Sleep, Exercise, Eat...Repeat.

Once a year, my husband and I take a full week off of work and plan a "stay-cation". This is our opportunity to sleep, eat, and exercise as much as we want.

Our lives can get so hectic, we often miss out on the beauty of the area that we live. It's hard to believe that these pictures were taken about 10 minutes away of our home in the suburbs.

Here are some tips to make your "stay-cation" a success:

1. Get the whole family involved in the planning process. Let each individual decide one thing that you do (within reason). Paint pottery, have a movie night, or go to a restaurant you've wanted to try.

2. Turn off your alarm clock. Most Americans are sleep deprived, but don't realize it because they've gotten accustomed to living on 7, 6 or (gasp) 5 hours or less of sleep. Let yourself sleep in, you've earned it.

3. Don't go to the gym. What? I know, hear me out. Get outside, go for a hike or run, take the dog to the dog park, or reconnect with a friend as you walk through town. Give your gym membership card a rest for the week and get your exercise outside.

4. Disconnect (your phone/iPad/laptop) & Reconnect (with your loved ones).
